Palestine takes the stage at Rock Werchter

Last weekend, 158,000 visitors from 90 countries visited one of Belgium's biggest festivals, Rock Werchter. International and national artists, such as Fontaines D.C. and Sylvie Kreusch, voiced their support for Palestine with a watermelon umbrella and concert visuals stating ”free Palestine”.

As seen at Glastonbury Festival, Europe's festivals aren't shying away from politics. Artists know the power of the platforms they have, and they're using their voices – literally and figuratively.

While Rock Werchter's latest edition made headlines for its political tone, Belgium has become famous for its festival scene due to the professionalism of its organisers. With 400 festivals every summer, the choices are plenty; from Tomorrowland and Dour to Jazz Gent and Reggae Geel, there is something for every music lover.
