About promoted opinion in The European Correspondent
What is "promoted opinion" and why do you show it to me?
Promoted opinion is a paid service offered by The European Correspondent. It has two objectives:
It's an opportunity for organisations, companies, and individuals to showcase their standpoint to a European audience.
It's a revenue source that allows us to make our journalism available to everybody.
Which organisations are eligible for promoted opinions?
The following criteria determine which organisations can make use of this paid service. These are based on our values and aim to be transparent and prevent the spread of misinformation and hatred.
We only work with organisations which are registered in the EU Transparency Register. We exclude companies from the fossil fuel energy sector, tobacco and alcohol producers, arms manufacturers, and official country representations.
Every promoted opinion piece will be scanned for misinformation and hate speech by the editorial director. The European Correspondent reserves the right to refuse any submitted content when misinformation or hate speech is detected or when it goes against our editorial policy.
How The European Correspondent ensures its independence
We ensure independence by diversifying our revenue streams. Additionally, to advertising revenue, we have a revenue stream from donations and grants from our community.
The European Correspondent is not responsible for the content and the promoted view does not reflect our editorial position. Our editorial team has no involvement in the creation of the promoted opinions and reserves the right to refuse any submitted content if the content fails to meet our editorial policy and our criteria for promoted opinion (as outlined above).
